These
are our on-line diaries and links to those of others we've met and
support who are trying to help out or doing similar work in the area.
We will detail accounts of what we've been doing and how we've been
able to help, as well as providing an on-going
assessment of Yaluwa's impact with feedback and personal journals from the
locals, accounts of daily life and other relevant updates and information
from the wider region.
Lee and Darren De Louche, brothers from Jersey in the Channel
Islands, have a long association with Sri Lanka and are the driving force
behind Yaluwa. They know the country and people well having visited the region
many times over the years to surf and as part of thier wider travels.
Lee was in Hikkaduwa with his girlfriend in a beach hut and was badly injured
when the Tsunami hit. Had it not been for the quick thinking and selfless
efforts of a number of locals at the time it is doubtful they would have
survived the catastrophe.
This is their second trip back to the area since the disaster heading all
our efforts to help where we can.
