Le Relais beach party/live bands 20/8/05

Le Relais beach party/live bands went off a beauty on saturday, big thanks to all those involved!!

Saturday morning, setting up the chillout BBQ/Thai food special out on the green at Le Relais, L'Etacq:

A few early showers couldn't compete with the positive vibes and threatening sunshine out St Ouen this weekend. By lunchtime there was an uplifting sound coming out of a 2K rig set up in one of the most picturesque beer gardens in the island. With a backdrop of sheer granite cliffs, blue sea and sky and a fantastic view across the bay, various tents were busy with raffles, Thai food and BBQ, face painting, Indian tat for sale, nail painting and kids playing games or generally hopping about painted like rabbits.

Tunes were provided by Chris (cheers for the rig), Mikey B, MC Nelson, Nelly G, Shakti Dread and Bob Vincent/Jerome doing the sunset acoustic piece.

As the food and music continued outside, the bar was filling up rapidly to the sounds of Vic and the Mindens with their tight set of well executed covers covering everything from New Order to Kaiser Chiefs. Next up was Benny the Moth and the Errogenous Zones with their mix of blues, soul and reggae, followed by a feisty set by How to tell yourself from a television and the Valentines kicking off and ending the night being prised from the stage, much to the dissapointment of the crowd..

Apologies to anyone who couldn't get in as the turnout was much bigger than anticipated, and cheers to Marcel for keeping the crowd in drinks while Dennis, Namwon and friends kept the food going as long as it was needed!

Yaluwa made over £1100 at this event thanks to the generosity of everyone who attended, the free services of all the bands, stall holders and people donating kit to make this possible.
