Yaluwa : Events In the Name of the Tsunami |

Sunil Elvitigala, a Sri Lankan/Canadian film maker, premiers his hour-long documentary, In the Name of the Tsunami, in Peraliya village, the site that saw the train disaster during the Tsunami where 1500 people lost their lives. Sunil arrived around 5th January '05, and has been following the progress and lives of locals, NGOs and independant volunteers, showing both sides of the story as it unfolds after such a shattering event. On 31st March the chief of Peraliya will open the first official screening of the movie in the school that was the temporary hospital of the area, next the film heads to the Cannes film festival. |
